When to Do a Borer Treatment
There’s a lot said about the best time of the year to do a borer treatment. Most recommend having the treatment applied right before spring so there’s a barrier set up for the adult flight season. In our opinion, the best time to do a treatment is as soon as possible. Why? Because of the following:
Larvae are boring/tunnelling through the timber year-round. A saturation treatment soaks into the timber and can kill larvae tunnelling within the areas the treatment has penetrated, so you’re killing these larvae off before they do any more damage, regardless of flight season.
Having the treatment in place also acts as insurance against any adults that may emerge early, and once applied, treatments can last up to 5+ years.
